Overall the bike looks to be in great condition, with the toaster panel chrome looking pretty flawless and what looks like period-correct Monza Blue Metallic (if there’s a sharp-eyed paint-hound out there who can confirm or deny our diagnosis, speak up in the comments). You’ll get the original mirrors in the sale. The bike is sitting on nearly-new continental tires, and has been fitted with cafe-style bar-end mirrors that fit, but frankly aren’t our favorite. Only other meaningful upgrade listed is a new lithium battery, which are not critical upgrades, but really nice if you’ve had one. Seller claims ‘redone’ brakes as well, but doesn’t say how many miles are on them. Seller says they’ve fitted /6 era roller/rocker bearings, rebuilt the transmission and bing carbs, and installed a new clutch. Our fuzzy napkin math says that probably gets you another 5hp, assuming none of those horses have run away since this 1975. This example has been bored out to 850cc and fitted with Venolia pistons. Mechanically, the original R75/5 had 750cc that translated to about 50hp at the rear wheel. The seller is not the original owner, but claims to have been in possession of the bike for 25+ years and completed a frame-up restoration in that time. Up for sale on craigslist is a very clean looking ’71 BMW r75 fitted with a ’72 ‘toaster’ tank.
